Welcome to JKMO INDIA

Shotokan Karate

Who Are We

JKMO was established by Kancho Sasaki Toshiatsu from Japan in 1964. Sasaki sensei was one of the direct students of Soke Masatoshi Nakayama who was the student of Soke Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan style. He broad based JKMO all over the world. He was a WKF referee and authorized Shetei Kata coach. JKMO India is one of the National branches and is headed by Shihan Dr. Shaji S Kottaram (WKF Referee & Certified coach).

Our Mission

We follow traditional and scientific way of Shotokan style along with WKF sports Karate. Of course we promote sports Karate but our main focus is on the traditional way of teaching, like Kihon, Kata, Kumite etc.

What We Do

JKMO India focus mainly on the Kihon of the style, also Kata and Kumite. But as a sports, we promote WKF competition methods. Regular instructor training keeps our instructors updated, competent and sincere in their profession.

Our history

JKMO India has its history from 1975. Shotokan Karate in Kerala was introduced by Shihan Bonnie Roberts from Srilanka. He established BBKI in 1975 and brought instructors from Srilanka to train the students here. BBKI grew beyond the barriers of Kerala State. Later Shihan Bonnie Roberts himself introduced Kancho Sasaki Toshiatsu in 2000. After Sasaki sensei’s visit, BBKI was renamed as JKMO India.
